The future is a little brighter today with the announcement from bird-man-myth known as Claptone spreading the word about his second full-length album, titled Fantast.
A man who shrouds himself in mystery and dons a gold bird mask for every one of his appearances would not, nay could not simply stand by and allow a press release do all of the work for him. No, Claptone is more theatrical and clever than that. Through a fabricated news clip announcing the discovery of an ancient artifact in Scotland, an enlarged version of Claptone’s mask and through simultaneous marches in four major cities worldwide featuring his Clap Army hauling giant inflated Claptone mask balloons and hoisting #CLAPTONEINVASION posters through high-traffic areas, the message got out to a lot of people, and fast.
Following up the brilliant and much-loved debut Charmer, Fantast will be comprised of 13 songs, all collaborations with the likes of Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Zola Blood, and more. The first single, “In the Night” featuring Ben Duffy on vocals is out now on all streaming platforms. You can pre-save the album on Spotify here.
2018 will see Claptone touring heavily, making his way around the world promoting the new album due out August 8th. He released the first set of dates for his tour starting in North America, and promised more dates to come.
