Prepare for a sudden rush of endorphins, accompanied by an overwhelming urge to get off your ass and dance, because Galantis just dropped a new single. “No Money” features an almost female sounding vocalist leading the charge through a blissful, house-heavy and rounded synth melodies.
Accompanying the track is what may be their strangest artwork yet. I’m all for the seafox and all its incarnations, but for some reason when they added an orchid, it just turns unsettling real quick. Maybe I’ve just played too much Resident Evil.
After a little research, I found the vocals belong to a 12 year-old named Reece:
“We experimented for quite some time on this one; it was one of those Galantis enigma puzzles where you just have to keep on trying piece by piece to get it right. Started the chord progression in Silver Lake LA, built the body in Sukhumvit Bangkok, and finished it off in the Stockholm archipelago. It feels like the track has a flavor of each place actually. Finally, 12 year old Reece delivered the vocal in perfect manner and we knew we had something we really loved.”
The Swedish duo only have two more dates on their docket for 2016, but I expect we’ll be seeing a steady influx of additional dates as festival season unfolds and more lineups are announced.

I work, live and play in Minneapolis.
I try to tell the story of the people that create music and experiences through pictures as well as through words.
