Autograf, the trio from Chicago who’ve been making waves for a while now with their slick and heady remixes, and more recently with their original work, announced this week that they will be releasing their first EP, titled “Future Soup.”
The announcement came with the nod-to-Warhol artwork, as well as the title track off the new EP. Presumably, there’s a can for members Mikul, Jake, and Louis.
One of the things that drew in to their remixes was their ability to take familiar parts and pieces, and tell a different story with it, and to take you places you didn’t expect Marvin Gaye to take you. It’s still, without a doubt, the R&B hit “Grapevine,” but it’s also something else, something entirely new. Their remix of French Horn Rebellion’s “Fire” is another great example.
I was elated to find out that their talents extended beyond remixes, that their original work was just that. Also, it was really good. It will be interesting to see where they go with an extended release, no longer confined to the length of a single song.
Finally, they rounded their announcement off with a list of tour dates that will carry them through the end of winter. Listen to the new track below, and check out the tour dates below that. Pre-order “Future Soup” through iTunes here.
