Buygore-All-Stars-Final-1024x1024

Yesterday marked the release of the second installation of the Buygore All Starts compilation. Boasting 18 impressively diverse tracks Boregore’s label has provided fans with over an hour of Trap, Dubstep, and house.

The release kicks off with Migos – Hannah Montana (Boregore & Protohype Remix). Though this track isn’t especially innovative, it is a solid, heavy Dubstep track. A great way to set the tone for remainder of the compilation.

Immediately following this is the BoregoreLuke & Skywalker trap remix of Please Mr. Postman by The Marvelettes. As the intro to the track began I was reminded of the Cragga remix of the song that hit the scene in 2009, but the similarities ended with the intro. Though I am not a fan of most trap I enjoyed this track. If found that the structure is vaguely reminiscent of a Minimal Techno; A genre that I am quite fond of.

Nothing Bad by At Dawn We Rage was notable for the uplifting buildup of the track, and the disappointing culmination of the aforementioned buildup. The escalation of the track seems to make promises of a high energy Drum & Bass tune, only to go back on its word and leave you with the tedium of an average, humdrum trap track.

One of the highlights for me was Daft Punk ft. NERD Hypnotize You (Nero Remix) (Kennedy Jones Trap Bootleg). This refreshing rework of a classic track was a pleasure to listen to.

Getter brings us a simple, grimey, hard hitting Dubstep track with Lights Out. This bare bones production is a perfect example of how less can be more.

The 12th track on this installment really took me by surprise. COASTER’s smooth House remix of Justin Timberlake’s Suit & Tie blew me away. Though it may seem out of place among its hard hitting cohorts this relaxing House track provides the compilation with revitalizing contrast.

Kennedy Jones & Soul DefineButterfly Effect Is also outstanding. The jazzy instrumental combined with outstanding lyricism, bring to mind high quality old school hip hop. There are no unnecessary bells and whistles; If I had to describe this track with one word it would be: authentic.

As we approach the end of the release we come to The UN1K – Wut. This Massive track is as heavy as heavy can be. It is full of Heavy Metal guitar riffs and nasty basslines. This is one mean track.
