Good news for NIN fans everywhere.

Trent Reznor’s most recent incarnation of Nine Inch Nails have signed to Columbia Records and will be releasing an album called ‘Hesitation Marks’ coming out September 3rd coinciding with an upcoming tour. To get fans excited in the mean time, Reznor is releasing the first single from the upcoming album today.

Last week Trent Reznor had been quoted on the NIN website stating:

“I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”

This single dropping today, titled ‘Came Back Haunted’ marks the first official NIN release in 5 years, and our first taste of Halo 28. It would be a disservice to leave out that you can get the single for free today if you pre-order the album from iTunes.

There is a complex magnitude of elements expected from this release, and fans everywhere are riddled with anticipation. The first single exhibits drum elements reminiscent of ‘With Teeth’ & ‘Pretty Hate Machine’, along with a hint of the ‘Ghosts 1-4’ and ‘The Slip’ type synth and guitars. I have always considered that NIN albums are to be listened to as a whole in order to capture what is being presented in its entirety, so I am quite intrigued by this new release, and leaves me to wonder what other soundscapes the band will be revisiting.

Fans are also stoked to hear that the revived band is heading out on tour, Nine Inch Nails: Tension 2013, beginning this summer. The lineup for the touring band will include Reznor, Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, as well as previous NIN collaborators Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin.

In a recent press release, Reznor spoke about the tour saying:

“Tension picks up where Lights in the Sky left off…” This is the full-on NIN live experience realized as we never could before.”

The tour launches on September 28 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. I myself will likely be at the Orlando shows. I am excited to see what Trent has in store for us. The lineup for the touring band will include Reznor, Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, as well as previous NIN collaborators Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, and Ilan Rubin.

Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Friday, June 14, at livenation.com. Fans who register the NIN website will receive exclusive first access to tickets before they go on sale to the general public.

I’ve personally been to 3 different NIN Tours, and each time they’ve come, they’ve had one of the most visually appealing stage shows I have ever witnessed. If you’re a fan, and missed your chance to catch them in their last tour, your time for redemption is at hand.
