gridlok-prolix-membrane

RAM return with a release from something of a dream team in terms of dark, nasty, tech-infused D&B. After last year’s collab on Poisonous for Gridlok’s Project 51 imprint, my hopes were reasonably high for this 12″ and the boys have not let me down!

Membrane serves up some seriously crunchy bass textures against the backdrop of a slightly swung beat, reminiscent of Enei’s work on Centrifuge. As usual with both producers it’s all in the detail and the bassline and beats both possess it in staggering quantities.

Over on the flip Babylon leaves the swing out and heads for more traditional D&B roller territory and takes no prisoners on the drop, hitting a nice sweet spot between jump-up dancefloor sensibilities and the subtler bassline production quality of the techstep and neurofunk scene. This one will definitely prove to be a weapon for DJs everywhere.
