Closing out the first night of Pier of Fear, Knife Party’s Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen shook up the coast line as they cranked up the bass and sent waves of beats through the sea of raving fans.

The duo’s arrangements show aspects of club music, incorporating syncopated rhythms, auto tuned vocals, and pop culture concepts such as ringtones and references to Facebook. The innovative style is much more than your typical dubstep or electro house. The clever sound-bites and bass drops left the crowd cheering and my ears bleeding for more as the talking basslines from their first EP, 100% No Modern Talking.  The crowd frenzied as Rage Valley EP cut “Bonfire” flowed from the giant speakers all over the venue. Champagne rained over the crowd as they were dancing to the intoxicating beats.  If you have  a chance to catch Knife Party, you HAVE to go.

My ears still haven’t fully recovered. Show = success.
