Diversity is a word that gets tossed around a lot these days. Whether in the corporate world, politics, dining selection or music most people seem to want diversity but not everybody gets it unfortunately. If you happen to have a hankering for some musical diversity then you are in luck. This new TYR EP is exactly what you need.
This latest installment from up and coming producer TYR explores a surprisingly wide spectrum of styles in five songs. For example, on the first track, Disconnected, TYR combines a trap beat with some synths, dubstep wobbles and a surprisingly refreshing electric guitar riff. If that is not diversity then I don’t know what is. The trap beat and electric guitar become common themes throughout the EP creating a pleasant contrast between old and new. Another diverse element worth noting are the horns Things We Do.
In summary, TYR has amazingly created a happy family consisting of dubstep, rock n roll and trap. If his goal was to avoid getting pegged with one genre then he certainly accomplished it. Overall it is a very interesting and entertaining listen. And did I mention the whole thing is free?
