Yup. With my new job and college classes, I simply don't have the time to give my dog what she truly deserves. Honestly, getting my dog in the first place was selfish. I KNEW it would come to this but I was in denial.
Have any of you ever had to get rid of a pet before?
no but i can imagine how hard it must be

I had to get rid of my duck once. All my friends would steal baby ducks from the pond I lived next to. I had over 20 of them at one point but the core majority flew away.
Ducks make pretty cute pets, they all follow you in a straight line everywhere you go.
There was 1 duck left who didn't fly away though so my family made me force him to leave. I had to chase this duck around my yard until finally he left. Terrible.
Never had to get rid of a dog or a cat but my parents planned to put my dog down while I was at Disney World. I was 9 and I remember finding out that OJ was found innocent that day too.
Sorry to hear about your dog.
I can relate to your ducks... I have four chickens and they follow me everywhere when they are hungry hahaha.

i think thats one thing all animals have in common

Yeah, something about them being domesticated and 100% dependent on us for survival.....

causing guilty conscience at its finest

Yeah... I'd fucking FLIP if I had to get rid of my cat... NEVER!!! She will be with me her whole life, fuck that! That's why I chose to have a cat though, they're a bit more independent, and less to deal with for someone who's not home half the day. Dogs are more of a family animal, and half the reason I want a family is for a dog that I can responsibly have hehe.
