Do you think it is disingenuous or "cheating" to create recorded music that you cannot accurately reproduce in a live setting?

mostly yes. im cool with some bands doing that, such as anaal nathrakh which is a 2 man project that never intended to appear on stage but in general i dislike it.
Yeah true Rome, but even Anaal Nathrakh even ended up playing live... Dude, Rome... Listen to Mistress - In Disgust We Trust. AT's vocalist & guitarist played with them, along with AT's session (Live) bassist. Fucking awesome Doom/Sludge/Death/Grind abomination. IDWT is off the fucking charts ferocious. The other albums are great too, but in comparison lack the intensity of IDWT.

Anyway, haha... Cheating, naw... Alot of Hardcore acts don't necessarily perform live but spin records by fellow musicians for their sets... It's not so bad. My favorite producer in Hardcore, Hellsystem, produced using just PC programs for a long time, and some of his best material is from that era. Long as the music is good, I don't particularly see a problem. Guess I could be considered biased in that aspect though.

i saw anaal nathrakh on one of their first live gigs

i guess it was a true pain for ppl that were not used to the sound but i found it fucking amazing!
hello guys...
thanks for sharing information...
Some music can't be made live, some music can -only- be made live. Keeps the variation alive, I don't think making electronic music is cheating.
it some instances...
Personally I don't think it's bad, I don't really mind how the music I listen to is made, as long as it gets me and sounds good
