Just getting into this "genre" (for lack of a better word) and am trying to get a feel for some of the essential recordings (presumably live, although not a requirement from my end).

I know this question is entirely subjective, but i was wondering if you can recommend any "essential" live dates by Biscuits and Lotus so that i can download them from Livedownloads.com. As I'm sure you know, there are many to choose from and ihave no idea where to start.

I generally think vocals are out of place in this music (again, obviously subjective), so if there's any way you can take that into account, i'd appreciate that.

Of course, if you have any other "essential" recommendations, I'd be happy to hear those too. I just am more familiar w/ Biscuits/Lotus/STS9 than i am with any of the other bands discussed here.

Thanks!
Get the album "Germination"! That album is seriously EPIC, Lotus at their finest...

I think three of the most infamous STS9 concerts are Red Rocks, Rothbury Festival in Rothbury, MI and also The Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA.

Hope this helps! Smile
Yep Germination is classic Lotus!!! But the Live at Northern Lights set from Archive.org is great!!! Sound quality sucks but they play some of their best stuff at that show! Flower Sermon and Suitcases & Sandwiches are my favorite!
thx for the responses so far
No prob, that's why we're here!!
For Bisco, I would recommend checking out the rothbury set from 08, Sound Tribe - if you can find a copy of their show in New Orleans from fall 08, it is killer. My personal favorite lotus show was at rothbury 09, behind midwest storefronts and Jump Off are clutch. Most importantly if you are looking for live shows, archive.org is where its at. Plus check out pretty lights - filling up the city skies, and any live show by Eoto.
My favorite shows of both bands are oddly on the same day.

Lotus - NYE 12-31-09 Philadelphia, PA Electric Factory(I was there!)
Bisco - NYE 12-31-09 New York, NY Nokia Theater

as far as downloading shows tho, i find that festie shows are always killer.
the recent Colorado run was beyond impressive. Lotus is ON FIRE right now and their recent shows will show it. hit up livedownloads to experience them full force. there are also a few shows from the 2010 tour on archive.org

these are great shows, but if you want good sound quality and wish to support the band go to livedownloads.com and purchase the shows

Jesse Miller, Luke Miller, and Mike Greenfield have also just started a side project called Ghost Stepper (ghstppr). check out their show at Cervantes on archive.org. the side project gives them a chance to play some of Jesse's remixes as well as capture and experiment with a more electronic sound. theyre playing some really cool tracks its nice to see what else the guys can do outside of Lotus
