Who, in your opinion, dominates the livetronica/jamtronica spotlight currently? I feel like STS9 and Lotus are the biggest acts but honestly there are sooooo many other quality bands like Somasphere that are better in my honest opinion.
Thoughts?
STS9 could hold that crown but honestly they have been getting really boring lately. Ad Explorata put me to sleep. Their shows have lost a lot of energy. Somasphere on the other hand is kicking ass. They are playing a lot of shows coming up including Wakarusa in Arkansas. They have opened for just about every big touring electronic act in the US. Plus, 3 or 4 of them are kick ass solo DJ's who do shows around here pretty often.
Personally I think EOTO is the best livetronica act out right now. They are constantly on tour. Each and every night is a completely new show building every song from scratch by improvising. In the course of one night they will explore into hiphop, dubstep, DnB, trance, and electro.
I agree wholeheartedly. I feel STS9 is reaching that place of being overrated, and gaining many new fans who don't know of their past or where they came from. When I first heard Somasphere I was like "Hey... This sounds like STS9 but is better.
Admittedly, I don't know much about EOTO so I will have to check out more of their stuff... Any recommendations SiS?

Well the majority of their material is live. They record every show and put it up on LiveDownloads.com. They have 2 studio recorded albums of just improvisation like their concerts. I uploaded one of my favorite shows for you. I think I'll upload a few more and maybe start their own thread.
EOTO live at Nashville.zip
There's no way Sts9 is peaking. If anything, they are finding their sound the way they like it. Ad Explorata is sick. EHM is sick. And the past 4 shows Ive been too have been so much better than the previous. I'll be heading to St. Louis this weekend to see them. Hope to see you at the Pagent.

True. Especially live.
Lotus is absolutely on fire right now and I don't feel as if they get the love they deserve. Check out any of their shows from 2010. All of their jams and segues are crisp and on point. (Not that they always haven't been) They've come a long way and are always in the process of discovering new sounds which IMO is a very admirable characteristic for bands in this genre these days.
Lotus is killing it, EOTO has to be my fav currently.
Tribe will always be Tribe to be but I agree they lost a little energy.
Stoked to see Somasphere in a few weeks and add them to my favs.
Watch out for Octopus Nebula. These guys are incredible and coming up in a big way. You will be hearing about them soon if you haven't already.

I'm seeing Lotus on Oct 27 at The House of Blue, Sunset ~ SO STOKED!!! Saw them last year at the Roxy for the "Pay What You Want Tour" and it was the hottest performance ever!
EOTO loses their edge when they play more dubstep. Saw them about a month ago and was disappointed because after following Mimosa they should have played more electrojam instead of heavy dubstep. It sucked. BUT when they did go into their livetronica jam they brought the heat. Unfortunately, it only consumed about 10 minutes of their 1hr and 1/2 show.
STS9 is always the shit when I see them. But I'm a Peaceblaster and Interplanetary Escape Vehicle fan and would love if that was majority of any of their shows.
Particle is cool and I feel coming back in a bigger and better way! They lost their edge a while ago, but I saw them in May and they killed it. Nonstop FUNKY groovy livetronic jam! So i saw them for their 10 yr anniversary show at The Roxy and it was much more bluesy jam. BUT THE BEST PART was that they brought on Robbie Krieger, original lead guitarist for The Doors!! as their special guest. It was EPIC!!!
BLVD is starting to gain more recognition =D I found them at a festival in May and was utterly drawn ever since. They really know how to throw down the dance groove!!
I didn't see anyone mention DISCO BISCUITS! I've never personally seen them but I've heard countless live shows and them seem like an amazing experience!
Somaspere is awesome! Haven't DL'd the new EP but I'm so excited!
I've been much more in a jammy mood lately. Dubstep is cool but I find myself often needing a break and relaxing to the tunes of good ol fashion instruments.
I WOULD LOVE some jam band suggestions. I don't feel like I know as many as are out there. Living in LA, the crowd for that genre isn't half as big as the rest of the country.
