We’ve had our eyes and ears on the Canadian producer duo Rainer + Grimm for a few years, watching their slow, but steady rise in notoriety. In the time since finding them through their submission for Thump’s guest mix series, they’ve shifted around a growing list of musical territories and flexed their musical prowess with solid efforts in downtempo, deep house, and house, but their latest entry feels like a breakout for them. ‘Talk of the Town’ feels like the musical equivalent of what Oprah would call an “aha” moment, and sits squarely in the genre of UK garage.

With an incredible vocal assist from Plain English (of B.M.D./Channel One), Rainer + Grimm establish themselves as a kind of sonic chameleons with a track that stands alongside established UK garage artists without feeling like a reproduction. We’re ver much looking forward to seeing what Rainer + Grimm have in store for their next move.
