If you’re looking for a bright and crisp disco-drenched track to power you through hump day, look no further than the unlikely pairing of Wolfgang Gartner and John Oates (Yes, that Oates) on ‘Baby Be Real.’ While much of Wolfgang’s previous work has a darker, edgier feel to it, this sound is right up Oates’ alley and fits in perfectly with much of his catalog. If I didn’t know who it was before hearing it, I would have insisted it was Chromeo.

The track is a glimpse into the sound Wolfgang Gartner built for his new release, ’10 Ways to Steal Home Plate,’ an homage to the 80’s and 90’s dance music that shaped and soundtracked his youth. According to Wolfgang:

“The opportunity was floated to me to turn this demo into a dance track and mix worlds by combining John’s vocals and my music. I took John’s a cappella and wrote all new music underneath it, going for a sort of late 90’s disco house throwback vibe. This project was so organic and refreshing for me, as an opportunity to revisit the sound that I grew up on and collaborate with a legend and personal hero.”

Wolfgang is currently on a limited tour of US, including a stop this Friday, February 17th at The MID in Chicago. Check our Instagram post below for a chance to win a pair of tickets! Head here for details on the show and to buy tickets (in case you don’t win or if you don’t like free stuff).
