Festivals have been stepping up their lineups lately. Ultra, EDC, Coachella, and SnowBall set the tone for 2013, and LA’s FYF is no exception. Headliners My Bloody Valentine and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are joined by the likes of MGMT, Shlohmo, and Simian Mobile Disco, and the fun doesn’t stop there. From Flume to Bicep, this lineup is full of evidence that organizers know exactly what they want when it comes to electronic music: acts with class. In fact, you can’t really classify any of the electronic portion of the festival as ‘EDM,’ which is typically a sign of great vibes and sets that are equally concert and party. It’s exactly what I’d expect from a production that was once simply called Fuck Yeah Festival. Needless to say, it’s grown a lot since it’s indie days, and after that lineup release, I don’t think anyone’s complaining. And indie fans, don’t worry, there’s plenty of hipster in this lineup to go around. Weekend passes (at 99 bucks, a steal), along with some single-day tickets priced at 65, go on sale Thursday at noon. If you want to go, get ready for a quick sellout and get your tickets soon.
