German EDM superstar Zedd got his year off to a roaring start last night with a live acoustic performance of his hit single, “Clarity”. Clad in his typical woodsman plaid shirt, Zedd serenaded millions of viewers with his highly polished piano skills while singer Foxes attempted to recreate her studio performance of the original. Also on stage was Alvin Risk (for back up vocals) and a five piece orchestral string ensemble adding a tone of eminence to the performance as a whole. As a fan of Alvin Risk, I was a tad bit chafed at Letterman’s brusque acknowledgement of the backing man however, the exposure to such a huge audience will do nothing but help the extraordinarily talented producer.
This performance was no doubt a big deal for Zedd’s career however it also appears to have made history for the EDM community as a whole by being the first EDM performance to ever feature on a late night TV talk show!
