Shapes of Light – Eclipse
With a funky electro tinged lead to open, Shapes of Light has brought another free download in their newest single, “Eclipse” The intro’s synths and texture of this track are reminiscent of Brazillian electro duo Felguk and their remix of Neelix’s “Disco Decay. It is the pulse of this track that just pumps along with an electro bassline, which juxtaposed with the trancy plucks that come in, make for an interesting if not attention-grabbing sound.
Shapes of Light has continued to mold their sound into something unique, and “Eclipse” is a marker of that. With a fluttering, almost storm like raining down of synths this one is a perfect soundtrack for your late-night storm-chasing and injecting a dose of adrenaline into your night. This melting pot of sounds represents the current trend in “big room house”, mixing elements of house from different sub-genres. The only thing missing from this track are some emotive vocals, but at this point in their career it also makes sense. At times, vocals can detract from the melodic elements of a track, and that should be the focus here. The sky-high synthesizers of trance, groove of progressive house, and dirty bass of electro house, this track is quite a step forward for Shapes of Light.
